Broadening Representation and Equity with Science (BREWS) (2018 – present)
The lack of diversity and representation in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) fields is an issue that is well known, and it has negative impacts on research, individuals, and our communities.
I founded the seminar series, ‘Broadening Representation and Equity with Science‘ at the University of Minnesota in 2018 to provide a venue to engage in data-based discussions and challenging conversations surrounding topics of equity, diversity, and racism in academia. Since it’s inception, the group has hosted 16 different seminars on a variety of topics.
This seminar series was modeled off the BREWS Initiative first started at the University of Toronto by some of my excellent colleagues.
